Public policies are developed and presented in ways to gain attention and approval. These different ideas are considered flexible and subject to revision and adjustment. Politicians use this methodology freely to show they are “doing something” for their State and constitutes. They are not always correct in what they propose now and are subject to changes. Therefore, you cannot get a straight answer out of a public official. This methodology commonly referred to as the Overton Window. Not to say the Overton Window is a negative factor, it is not.
When ideas can be presented to the public freely and allow discussion without the current rancor of emotionalism over an idea, then plans can be advanced for public consideration. Opinions or thoughts are what President Trump does. He presents ideas he believes are valid in the public arena for discussion. The Media, on the other hand, gets very emotional about his thoughts. Instead of advancing the conversation, they work hard at destroying the idea because it came from President Trump.
A great example of the Overton Window is deregulation. The act of deregulation allows for the advancement of ideas, new concepts, and better use of medicines to cure the ill. In many cases, the departure from the established rules allows governments at different levels to remove restrictions. President Obama did this by merely ignoring specific laws and activities that were debatable violations. However, President Trump tries this same method, and the liberal’s heads explode because it came from him. Logic versus emotionalism.
President Trump’s “America First” policy is the ideal foreign policy that fits into the concept of the Overton Window. Unlike past administrations, both Republican and Democrat, he publicly identified China as a significant threat against the stability of the World. China has been actively trying to influence and take over the World through its policies economically. Also, in conjunction with their economic policies they have expanded their military to protect their influence worldwide. China is a danger to the United States and what we stand for in the rest of the World.
As an example, I have traveled the World extensively for our Government and been in a position to see how different countries react to the United States as well as other governments. On an official trip to Madagascar, where only Malagasy and French are spoken, I was astounded to discover the heavy Chinese influence on this large island off the coast of Southern Africa. They were making inroads into the economy for favors and use of ports and natural resources. It may have been good for the economy of that island. But, I was curious as to why there, in that part of the World. This country is in a quiet part of the World and out of the media focus. Nice for China.
I surmise it would give the Chinese a clear operating zone militarily to the entire East African coast and direct access to the southern parts of the Middle East. There are many possibilities in my evaluation.
The only statement that Presidential candidate Romney got right was when he said Russia is a threat to the United States and the free World. He was only partially correct. Romney left out China. But why did he leave out China is the question.
Romney is a globalist. China is a globalist inspired country, and with its large economy and military strength, they are, in fact, a significant threat to the World. China wants to control everything and everyone. President Trump recognizes China for what it is. His crime, according to the Democrats, all globalists and anyone that disagrees with him, is he called China out for what they are, an authoritarian communist country hell-bent on taking over. President Trump decided he would not allow that to happen on his watch. Globalists were enraged, hence the massive push back.
If you review all of President Trump’s policies and negotiations with China, they all blunt their globalist influence. The next step is to pull all manufacturing out of China. President Trump needs to remove all pharmaceutical companies, manufacturing, and production, back into the United States from China. He needs to loosen the grip of China over the United States and their ability to control our supply chain on numerous products. It is a strategic necessity.
Excellent opinion on how China is trying to influence the United States. With the current pandemic, it is obvious China is trying to take down the world. Trump is not about to let that happen.
I find it difficult putting pen to paper especially when I need to organize my thoughts when my head is swimming with multiple concepts and opinions, especially on this subject you have presented.
This is my first attempt to write on a blog, and it may be my only attempt.
1. I would like to believe that President Trump is altruistic, in his beliefs, policies, and agenda. But I am not convinced. He is sadly very egotistical and that is what he presents to the world stage. If he should fail, in my opinion it would be due to his ego, overshadowing the positives he accomplishes. He is very competitive and needs to win to feed his ego, if it helps our country great, but again in my opinion I do not see him as a forward thinker, but myopic as business necessities drives his decisions. I also place Mr. Trump in the Globalist camp, due to his business developments. He is at odds with others of his ilk, because he already made his billions and the rest are afraid he will close the spigot, isolate America.
2. China has always been one of my worries as the #1 antagonist we face as a nation. Russian economy is depended on oil and gas exports, and their well being is in jeopardy at the present. President Trump should stay out of the in fighting between the Saudis and them and stop worrying about our energy markets and propping them up. Let things fall as they may. Back to China, it is our nation’s greed (again my opinion) that has put us in danger and our shortsightedness of all.
We ignore history to only repeat the same mistake. Eg, we sold just before WWII the 3rd Avenue El to Japan who returned the favor with bullets. In closing there will always be conflicts between the haves and have not, on a small scale and a global one. The challenge is how do we mitigate in our daily lives the damage.

Len, you are correct. You drifted in several directions. So, let me address one of your points I disagree with you concerning Trump being a globalist. Yes, he has built his hotels in other countries. That actually makes sense since we are a traveling world. In fact I was thankful to be able to stay in American made hotels as I traveled, The Marriott in Islamabad, Pakistan, the Four Seasons in Amman, Jordan and a host of other hotels. I have also stayed in some local country hotels and hated it for a variety of reasons. A globalist is a person that wants all countries to be working together economically and then they want also to be at the top of the heap controlling the various economies in that cabal. I honestly do not think Trump fits that profile. Nor do I think the hotel chains around the world fit that profile. They build hotels for the American traveler. Yes, Trump is a businessman and conducts some of his policies like a businessman and not a politician, thank God. He is not shortsighted, certainly not on China. If one listens carefully and does some research on his past commentary on China they will find a remarkable consistency to his thought processes and rather well thought out.
China was just appointed to the United Nations Human Rights Council panel. Given their decades old, well documented history of human abuse, I find this appalling. This is just another example of why the United Nations is nothing but a bunch of bumbling idiots who do nothing but debate ideas, and mostly collect pay. They are useless, and have been useless for years and years.
I agree that China is hell bent on taking over the world, not only economically but by physical incursion into other countries. I expect they will attach Taiwan soon, leaving President Trump with a extremely difficult decision. Defend and risk war, or refrain therefrom. The United Nations will do nothing, as usual.
On a similar note, given our national debt, which Obama doubled during his reign, and the newly enacted trillion dollar stimulus, we should immediately cease any and all foreign aid. Some exceptions may prevail, such as Israel.
Pelosi is trying to draft another trillion dollar stimulus, with the intent of forcing a national bankruptcy or recession in yet another attempt to defeat Trump in November. Withholding foreign aid will have the effect of partially off-setting our national debt.
I agree with you and blame our position on past administrations. Trump was handed an almost impossible situation with China based on past policies. He attacked China in the right way, economically. His constant praise of China leaders is a negotiating tactic. It is meant to encourage dialog and not cut them off. If he cut China off, no deals and no progress, I get it. I truly hope he makes a solid move in getting American manufacturing and production out of China. We need to be more independent and soon.
