Wokeism Is Not Cool

The following article/letter was sent to me and was posted on the internet just the other day. I felt it was so compelling I wanted to share it with everyone willing to read it. We are at this point. Neighbors are turning against neighbors. Congressman turning against another Congressman for their beliefs. All for what they believe as the truth. There is no pure truth; it is always a combination of gray areas demanding your common sense to activate and make determinations as to what you want to believe. Does the biden administration represent the Chinese government or the American people? Can we see the dividing line or not? Heed Ms. Chen’s words of wisdom.

Jean Chen is originally from China and writes under a pen name in order to protect her family in China.

Wokeism Is Not Cool, Chinese People Know Too Well

Jean Chen January 26, 2021

Let’s begin with a true story that happened in China.

Mr. Zhang (an alias) was my father’s high school English teacher in the 1960s. Twenty years before that, he worked as an interpreter for American liaison officers in China during WWII. He and his wife were from rich families. After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) took power, they lived a low-profile life in order to avoid troubles that might arise because of their family backgrounds and his experience working with Americans.

In 1966, the Cultural Revolution began. Young people were encouraged to accuse, turn in, or even beat up their parents to prove their revolutionary devotion, or to break away from their unfavorable family backgrounds. Those who dared to do that were considered heroes.

Mr. Zhang’s teenage daughter, Ling (an alias), a classmate of my father, put up a poster accusing her parents of dancing the waltz and having capitalist thoughts. This ignited a ferocious campaign against her father. Posters attacking him were everywhere, calling him a “monster.” In front of mass rallies, half of his hair was shaved. With a big and heavy board hanging on his neck with his name crossed out with red ink, he was beaten, spat on, and cursed at.

As a result, Mr. Zhang’s son went insane and the whole family suffered tremendously. Ling lived her life with immense guilt. Two years ago, before her death from cancer, her parents came to visit her. However, she kept her eyes closed, pretending to be asleep because she didn’t dare look at them.

This is just one of millions of sad stories that happened in China. Families torn apart, friends betraying friends, teachers beaten to death by students….

This happened not only in China. It occurs in every communist country.

Now something similar is happening in the United States.

Also, in America

Helena Duke, an 18-year-old from Massachusetts, publicly ridiculed her mother, sharing a video of her mother at the Capitol protest on Jan. 6. The post went viral, causing Helena’s mother to lose her job. Helena became a “hero,” raising over $73,000 when she turned to GoFundMe to ask for donations for her college education.

Helena is not alone. According to the media, after the Jan. 6 Capitol protest, the FBI has received over 100,000 tips about the participants. Most of the tips were from family or friends.

If you browse Helena’s Twitter account or her GoFundMe page, it is full of comments like “proud of you,” “right choice,” “brave,” etc.
But as a Chinese American, I have a heavy heart. Family bonds are the most precious. They are beyond political affiliations. No NORMAL society glorifies reporting against family members. From imperial China, to western law systems since ancient Rome, there is legal immunity of concealment among relatives. Confucius said, “Benevolence is the characteristic element of humanity, and the greatest exercise of it is in loving family members.” The only societies that would encourage betraying family members are communist and Nazi governments.

How has the United States gone this far?

My understanding is that there are two reasons: one short-term, one long-term.

The short-term reason is the demonetization of conservatives by mainstream media. Actually, this is a standard practice by communist and Nazi governments. Before persecuting a specific group, the propaganda machine would be revved up to its full capacity to demonize the group so people would feel indifferent when the group is brutalized, and their family members would feel the urge to cut ties with them to protect themselves. The persecuted group can be landowners, capitalists, intellectuals, religious followers, Jewish people, or anybody.

The long-term reason is the destruction of family bonds and ethics since the 1960s. Actually, the 1960s was a watershed moment in modern history. It sustained an unprecedented counterculture movement sweeping from East to West. Rebellious young people in the West revered Karl Marx, Herbert Marcuse, and Chairman Mao, vowing to shatter Judaeo-Christian civilization and traditional culture, including family bonds and ethics, just like their Eastern counterparts. Although far apart, the West and the East experienced similar havoc at similar times, originating from the same source: communism.

Actually, we are not that far from a Cultural Revolution 2.0 in America.
When BLM activists tear down sculptures of historical figures, urinate on them, and chop their heads off, what is the difference from the red guards of Chairman Mao who bludgeoned Buddhist sculptures and burned scriptures?

When Antifa wants to burn everything down, and get “a new world from the ashes,” what is the difference from the communists’ ideal of “smashing the old world?”

When “defund the police” becomes the new political correctness, what is the difference from the Chinese Cultural Revolution’s lawlessness and mob rule?

When mainstream media become the mouthpiece of leftist ideology, what is the difference from the propaganda departments in China and the Soviet Union?

When the issue of race become omnipresent, and white people are considered to be born with “implicit bias,” what is the difference from categorizing people according to their family backgrounds, and denouncing the children of capitalists and landowners as “bastards”?
President Ronald Reagan said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.” As human beings, we have all kinds of weaknesses, like greed, lust, selfishness, and ego. But communism, the specter, is staring at us without a blink, and charging toward us. If we don’t know its strategy and take action to counter it, it will take away our freedom—quickly.

Excellent, excellent article. We cannot allow this to happen in our country. If we bury our heads in the sand, our country will slip away and future generations will be forced to bow to communism. I care about the future of my children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will have. If we do not stand up and change the direction that our country is headed, we are letting them down. That is not in my DNA.

Hate to say it, but this article speaks the truth of the state of our nation. I also dislike having to make the statement we, as a nation, are too far gone to make this turn around. It is humanly impossible.

I am not saying we should not do everything in our power to turn this around, but without God on our side, we cannot change the present direction of our nation. Regretfully, God is not on our side because we as a nation have completely turned our back to him. And if that was not enough, we are shaking our collective fist at his face by doing everything possible that God opposes in his word. There is no indication that this nation is willing to repent, turn around and follow the path of righteousness. On the contrary. Most of the leaders of this nation seem to focus all their attention to do the business of evil. One only has to take a look at the 40+ Executive Orders signed by the present occupant of the White House. And, based on that occupant’s own words uttered in October 2020, he is running the country like a dictator:

“I have this strange notion, we are a democracy… if you can’t get the votes.. you can’t [legislate] by executive order unless you’re a dictator. We’re a democracy, we need consensus.”

We are in for a bumpy ride until the moment God sends his Son to bring his bride home. After that event has taken place, what this nation and the world is going through now looks like dancing through the tulips. No one will want to be here for what is coming.

Therefore the most important thing we can do is to make sure our relationship with Jesus is intimate. None of us will want to hear Jesus say “I never knew you, depart from me…”

Time is short. The signs of that are all around us, as the article above proves. Jesus could come for his bride any minute now. There is nothing that needs to happen before it. This does not mean we should check out mentally or physically. On the contrary, we need to occupy until he comes. There is work to be done….

We are wise to make the effort to “understand the times,” to gain an accurate picture of how people of our era tend to think, behave, and communicate. Then we can have a maximum impact on our culture for Christ. ~ Charles E. Stanley

This advice and your comments are spot on about us in the here and now. We can not turn our backs on God, we must be patient, and accept what is going on as it is a lesson for all of us to learn. The enemies of God will do as they will, and so shall HE when he responds. Sometimes, God puts powerful and influential people in positions of power for a reason. This is no accident.

What bothers me is that there has been only one extremist from the Left that has been identified as possibly the group that started this riot. They never attend events in numbers of just one. Why isn’t there more information available on who else attended this even besides conservatives? Also, there are many videos of the Capital Police opening the fence and ushering everyone inside? Why don’t we hear about that? How can we find out if these videos are real and why isn’t anyone asking the right questions about how they got in? What makes sense to me is that this was a set up. Like other recent set ups by the Left, they announced on local news stations that there was going to be dangerous riots before it ever began. Just saying….none of it makes sense…..again!

I posted “Wokeism is not Cool” on my Facebook page, but did not use your name. I hope that’s ok with you. Jean Chen was so articulate in explaining what’s going on today in our country. Thank you for your blog!
