“Lingchi (Chinese: 凌遲), translated variously as the slow process, the lingering Death, or slow slicing, and also known as Death by a thousand cuts, was a form of torture and execution used in China from roughly 900 CE until it was banned in 1905. It was also used in Vietnam. In this form of execution, a knife was used to methodically remove portions of the body over an extended period, eventually resulting in Death.
“Lingchi was reserved for crimes viewed as especially heinous, such as treason. Some Westerners were executed in this manner. Even after the practice was outlawed, the concept itself has still appeared across many types of media.”
This concept can is used in many different scenarios. The one I will explain is appropriate for this common Chinese saying.
Who is responsible for the rise of the Chinese Communist Government economically for the past 50 or so years? Is it America and its trade policies? Is it the politicians that have been paid off by Chinese lobbyists? Is it the World Trade Organization (WTO)? Is it the neglect of the American people who have continued to vote the policymakers into office?
If we look at the long history of our relationship with China since President Nixon helped open the doors, we will find the answer. It is we the people as China developed a strategy to give us products at a lower price. They seduced big manufacturers of the everyday products we use by the cheap labor that benefited their bottom line of profitability. We greedily sucked up to China, each and everyone one of us without looking at the long-term consequences.
But, it was not just America. It was the whole World, as China played the long game and corrupted the World’s entire economic systems. The rich joined in because they made more money. The likes of Bill Gates and Microsoft have their whole X-Box products wholly made in China, and those that participate in video games did not care because the product was cheap and plentiful. They made Gates and his foundation rich, along with the Chinese. There is Apple to consider and the production of the iPhone, all made in China and sold at a ridiculous price here in the United States. What other products do Microsoft and Apple make that fall into the Chinese trap of greed? Look at Walmart. Much of their products come from China. Recently released news is the CEO of Walmart is a “Never Trumper,” donating massive amounts of money to an organization that wants Trump out of office. The determining reason is their bottom line has adversely impacted by Trump and his new deals and tariffs. Trump is a threat to Walmarts money. All of this makes one not to buy an X-Box or buy another iPhone.
The question I raise today is, what can we do about it. Lingch is the answer, economically, Death by a thousand cuts. If actively done through the country and the World, it can break the hold China has on America and the Rest of the World. The simple long game we as Americans can play is not under any circumstances buy any product made in China. Find an alternative.
Buy “Made in America” or if you must, made in another country not connected to China. Learn to read bar codes. The first three numbers on bar codes indicate the country the product is from, either manufactured or its international headquarters. There are many kinds of bar codes, too many to list here. Go on the internet and read it for yourself.
If we all engage in this tactic, China starts to lose economic status. It will take time, but if we do this effectively, the ripple effect will be tremendous. When companies begin to have excessive inventories of products, they stop buying from the point of origin, i.e., China.
At the same time, start writing to your Senate and House of Representatives to demand pharmaceuticals be relocated back into the United States for production, manufacturing, and distribution. Will we pay more? Perhaps, but it is better to pay more than held hostage by a Communist Regime bent on world dominance and suppression of human rights. Ask yourself, how does it feel that we the people must answer to a Communist Government? That is where we are now.
Do not forget to insist on medical supplies of all sorts manufactured in China to be produced here in our country.
Economic Death by a million cuts is the tactic. Use it or forever be a puppet on a string dancing to the Chinese Communist Government and wealthy corporations engaged in the destruction of America to enhance their bottom line. I encourage everyone to pass this information to friends. Cut and paste if you like.
Completely agree. The races are for space dominance, and world control. Have we paid attention to the purchases made by China? Did we try to stop the sale of the Panama canal recently? The Chinese also bought several ports. They now effectively control world distribution of food, and other needed products. Apple is moving production to other countries. Will that help? I don’t know.
It is sad to know that we the people over the years put our trust in the law makers to be good stewards of our country, to make it grow and prosper. We are the greatest country in this world and can only help other countries to grow and prosper if we remain economically and financially strong. It has taken a non-politician to awaken us from our complicity and show us how to fight to save our country.
I agree……..never buy China made. I really like your articles.
Karen, thank you, I appreciate your interest. I try to write in such a way as to encourage conversation and educate by exploring new ideas and reinforcing old ideas. China is a major interest to me as well as some other subjects. I read each and every label before I make a purchase.
This is your best blog yet, and they are all excellent! I will definitely “cut and paste” to get this message out to many.
Charlotte, thank you for your kind words and support on the endeavor. Yes, please let others know one way to defeat the Chinese Communist is through a strong economic effort by us little folks in America.
I think there were many of us that had decided long ago that we would not purchase anything made in China. The problem was that we didn’t know what came from China since everything doesn’t come with a Made In China tag! This was very interesting and I also believe it’s time to stop shopping at Walmart as well.
